Have you ever heard of Giving Tuesday? It’s the biggest giving day of the year all around the world. It takes place the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, and is a day set aside to encourage people to give back in whatever way they can.

Here at Gr8ter, steady financial support means everything to us. It allows us to fulfill our mission, which extends beyond offering support to those working to move from mental illness to mental wellness (although we do a heck of a lot of that!). Right now, we are fundraising specifically for the Gr8ter Sock Project (learn all about that below!). That’s why we are so excited to help promote and be a part of the incredible event Sarah’s Village, an impressive holistic directory, is putting on. The Holistic Mental Health and Whole Body Wellness Expo will take place in a few weeks. Their goal is to put on “a natural health event that will empower you with knowledge and options to take charge of your wellness.” That sounds like something totally up our alley and so beneficial to supporting overall wellness.

On Saturday at Top of Tamarack, we remember 86 people…that couldn’t overcome the pain they were experiencing. They didn’t have enough hope to hang on. As I trekked up the mountain and reached our "Memorial Mile" I touched each of their plaques, said their names out loud and told them I STILL SEE THEM. I told they THEY ARE NOT FORGOTTEN. I told them they still have a purpose. Their flame is not extinguished, their fire still burns. It burns for me and for you.

September is National Suicide Prevention month. And if you’re in that ugly place, and the darkness is telling you it would be easier to go. Please don’t. Please Stay. Stay for me. Stay for them. Stay for the life that you want, that you absolutely still can have. It’s possible. Three years ago, I almost didn’t survive…and Saturday I trekked up a mountain to show I’m mentally strong. You are too.

Their legacies are important. They had laughs that were contagious and smiles that lit up rooms. They were someone’s friend. They were someone’s family member. They were loved.
