World Kindness Day!

Kindness looks like warmth.
Comfort.
Dignity.
A reminder that someone cares.

Our Sock Project exists because we believe that even the smallest act — like a fresh, warm pair of socks — can restore a sense of hope.

Today, practice kindness in whatever form:
high fives
hugs
hold space
show patience
choose gentleness
offer warmth — in words or in socks (donate online at www.gr8ter.org)
share your love and your heart.

Honoring Service, Acknowledging the Struggle

This Veterans Day, we honor the brave men and women who served — and we also stand with them in the challenges many face when they come home.

In Idaho, the veteran suicide rate is significantly higher than the national general-population rate.

More broadly, veterans account for a disproportionately high number of suicides in the U.S.

Many veterans who struggle with mental-health issues also face isolation, housing instability, or post-service transitions — all critical risk factors.

At Gr8ter, our Sock Project is about warmth, dignity, comfort — for all who may feel stripped of it. We also believe that no one should struggle alone.

If you are a veteran, know a veteran, or are simply looking to stand in solidarity — there are real resources available.

🇺🇸 Idaho Veteran Mental Health & Crisis Resources
Veterans Crisis Line: Call 988 then Press 1, or text 838255 — 24/7, free, confidential.

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Boise (VA Boise Health Care): Suicide prevention case managers, behavioural health support.

Idaho Division of Veterans Services: Policy & outreach work for veteran mental‐health, suicide prevention in Idaho.

What You Can Do Right Now:

Check in on a veteran in your life — a simple “How are you?” matters.
Share this post or save the crisis numbers — you might help someone reach out.
Donate, volunteer, or support organizations focused on veteran care and dignity.

To our veterans: Thank you for your service. We see you. We honour you. We stand with you. 💚

Sock Project Sunday

Socks seem small… until you don’t have any.
For someone living without stable housing —
For a mother and her children rebuilding safety in a shelter —
For someone in a mental health facility learning how to keep going —

A clean, warm pair of socks can mean comfort. Care. Dignity. Hope.

Our Sock Project creates boxes filled with essentials — including high-quality socks (yes, Bombas is the bomb), hygiene items, and handwritten encouragement — and we distribute them to:
✨ Mental health treatment centers
✨ Domestic violence shelters
✨ Homeless outreach and street-corner care teams

Because hope needs to be tangible.

Because comfort should never be a luxury.

Because being stripped of stability should not mean being stripped of dignity.

This year, our goal is to deliver more Sock boxes than ever before — each one prepared by hand, with intention, warmth, and love.

No ask today.
Just sharing the heart behind the work. 💚

Focus on connection + movement + hope woven into community

Yesterday at Trail Fridays, Kylee showed up for her Day of Hope — a personal practice Kayla Jones created to intentionally pause, reflect, reconnect, and choose hope again.

No performance. No perfection. Just choosing to be there.
Hope doesn’t always arrive with fireworks.
Sometimes it`s quiet. Sometimes it’s steady.
Sometimes it’s the courage to show up at all.

You’ll be hearing more about A Day of Hope in the coming months — how it started, why it matters, and how we can each create space for our own version of this practice.

But for today, we’re honoring the simplicity: movement, community, and choosing to keep going — one step, one trail, one day at a time.

Keep trekking. Hope walks with you.

This project didn’t start from charity.

It started from care. From noticing. From saying, “I can do something.”

As we move into the month leading up to Giving Tuesday, we’re inviting you to see it too — the power of showing up in small, meaningful ways.

One box of socks.
One moment of comfort.
One reminder that we’re all human. 🖤
